Good Afternoon gamers and welcome back to another Tuesday Telecast from Des Moines Gaming Club. Wanted to start out today by mentioning our upcoming Monthly tournaments! On Saturday, July 2nd, we are hosting our Smash Bros Monthly, Downtown Duels, once again. As usual, doubles will start at Noon and singles in both Ultimate and Melee will start at 1:30pm. The pot fee for singles is $8, the pot fee for doubles is $5 and the venue fee is $7, $5 though if you bring a setup. As always, we can’t wait to host this event once again and we are so glad that now we have both Ultimate and Melee streaming from the Club. You can sign up on start.gg by searching downtown duels.
Then on Sunday, July 10th we have our next FGC B-Side tournament that will feature tournaments in Vampire Savior and Guilty Xrd at 12:30pm followed by BlazBlue Central Fiction and DNF Duel at 2pm. It is $8 for the pot per tournament and $7 for the venue fee, of course only $5 if you bring a setup. We love hosting these B-Side tournaments getting to showcase these nice, throwback games. Be sure to check it out!
Finally we now have a date for our next main Fighting Game Monthly Clash in the Capital and it is set to be held here at the club one week after EVO on Saturday August 13th. The titles will be the usual Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Strive, and King of Fighters XV. The order and start times are yet to be finalized but we can’t wait to host this tournament as well.
One last thing I want to mention on the topic of monthly tournaments is that we are in the process of creating a Monthly Rocket League tournament where the cash bonus plus will be $50, added to of course the pot entered by all of the competitors. The first one is going to be 3v3 since that is the competitive format in the RLCS but in the future we may add 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments as well. As you’ve heard me say, I’m really big on the future of Rocket League and I know this community can grow if we can just start getting people to come out regularly so we are hoping this Monthly tournament will do just that. More details to come soon!
Alright moving on the regular schedule this week here at the club, the weekend is going to be a little whack as I’ll be out of town starting at 1:30pm on Friday and won’t return to the Club till Tuesday the 21st. I am the bestman for my goodfriend Gabe who is getting married later this Summer and this weekend we are getting away with our buddies to celebrate his bachelor weekend. Thus, Ethan is for sure covering the Club Friday and Sunday and he is attempting to cover it on Saturday as well so be sure to stop in and say hey and thank you to Ethan who is really helping me out by covering. So with that in mind, casual play this week is Tuesday – Thursday 1pm-10pm, Friday 1pm-11pm, Saturday will be 4pm-11pm if Ethan can cover but that is still up in the air. Then finally, Sunday will be 11am to 5pm. The weekly tournament schedule is regular with FGC tomorrow night at 7pm with casual matches going from 6pm till close and the official tournaments being Guilty Gear Strive and Tekken 7. Thursday is Smash Bros. of course with doubles at 6:30 and Singles to follow at 7pm. Friday is FIFA 22 at 7pm and Sunday is Rocket League at 1pm.
That’l do it for updates from the Club, now I’ll end the telecast by talking briefly about the Xbox Bethesda showcase from this past weekend. We saw previews for a lot of games coming out on Xbox exclusively but a lot of the games previewed will be available on PC as well. The headlining game getting most of the attention is the highly anticipated Starfield which has been Bethesda’s main focus for some time now. It appears to follow the gameplay style of their award winning games Elder Scrolls and Fallout but this time, the adventure takes place in space in the future. In Satrfiedl they revealed you will be able to customize your own ship, build your own bases on different planets and explore over 100 solar systems which combined have over 1000 planets which can all be visited. Until this reveal I wasn’t expecting too much but with the footage and info we now have, I’m pretty excited for when this game comes out. Let us know in the comments what you thought of the Starfield reveal and what other take away you have from the entire showcase.
Thanks so much for watching and we’ll see you soon.
