Tuesday Telecast April 26th, 2022

Morning gamers! Dan here with another weekly update from Des Moines Gaming Club. We’ve got a pretty normal week ahead as for as our schedule goes with casual play being open Tuesday-Thursday 1pm-10pm and Friday-Saturday 1pm-11pm. Sunday, we are closed for casual play because we are hosting our 2nd B-Side FGC tournament! The B-Side tournament is a really fun event where we play fighting games that aren’t currently the main stream titles. They are usually older, more niche games that are super fun to play. So, on Sunday we have 1v1 double elimination tournaments in Vampire Savior and BlazBlue: Central Fiction at 12:30pm and then we have Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 at 2pm. There will be side tournaments in Marvel 3 and Chaos Code. Venue fee is $7 and that covers entry from when our doors open around 11:30am all the way to when the tournaments are done and we close at 5pm, so even if you don’t want to compete in a tournament you can come and watch and play as many friendly matches as you want. The pot fee for each tournament is $5 and then Des Moines Gaming Club is adding $10 of pot bonus to each of the four main tournaments. Can’t wait for Sunday, I love seeing all of the different fighting games the B-Side tournament has.

Other than that our weekly tournament schedule is normal except for no Rocket League on Sunday due to the B-Side tournament. That means we have our weekly FGC night Wednesday night at 7pm with official tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive and King of Fighters XV plus casual matches aplenty. Thursday night is Smash Bros. night with Squad Strike at 6:30 and Singles in both Ultimate and Melee to follow at 7pm. And finally Friday night is FIFA 22 at 7pm.

That does it for updates from the Club, now we’ll move on to some esports industry news.

The Valorant Champions Tour Major in Iceland wrapped up this past weekend with North America taking home the 1st place trophy. OpTic Gaming beat team LOUD who hail from Brazil, 3-0 in the Grand Finals. This event helped put NA back into the debate of possibly being the best region in the world for Valorant. As OpTic are only one of the best teams from this region. Their team has 5 great players but Marved in particular went off this event and is in the conversation of best player in the world right now.

There has been a lot of talk in the gaming world about Halo Infinite and how it came roaring out after it’s release but has lost momentum in recent months. Many hardcore Halo fans are asking devs for more updates and tweaks to the gameplay it self and of course more casual Halo fans often ask for the addition of a Battle Royale mode. Well, if the reputable leaker Jez Corden of Windows Central is to be believed then apparently a battle royale is indeed in the works and could release as soons as the end of this year. Do you play Halo Infinite? If you don’t would play the battle royale mode?

That’l do it for today’s telecast. Thank you so much for watchin and we’ll see you next week!
