Good Afternoon folks and welcome back to another weekly update from Des Moines Gaming Club. I am back after a long weekend away celebrating friend Gabe’s wedding. Big shout out to Ethan who covered for me on Sunday. But since I’m back, we have got ourselves a completely regular schedule here at the Club this week. Casual play is available Tuesday-Thursday 1pm-10pm, Friday & Saturday 1pm-11pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm. The weekly tournament schedule is normal too with our FGC night Wednesday from 6-10pm with official tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive and DNF Duel at 7pm. As always there will be casual matches in a host of other fighting games too. Thursday night is Smash Bros. night with Squad Strike starting at 6:30 followed by singles at 7pm in Ultimate and Melee. Friday night is FIFA 22 at 7pm and Sunday is Rocket League at 1pm.
Coming up in the next month or so we want to bring your attention to 3 Monthly tournaments happening here at Des Moines Gaming Club and 1 regional tournament happening here in Des Moines. Not this Saturday, but the next we are hosting our 5th Main FGC Monthly, Clash in the Capital and this time we have 1v1 double elimination tournaments in 5 games! DNF Duel and Street Fighter V will start at 12:30 followed by Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Strive, and King of Fighters XV at 2pm! Venue fee is $7 and the pot fee per tournament is $8. Des Moines Gaming Club will add $10 of pot bonus per tournament as well. As always we can’t wait to host the FGC look forward to seeing all of you fighting game fans out here on August 13th. Then, the Saturday after that, August 20th, we are hosting our first ever Rocket League monthly. It is a 3v3 double elimination tournament on PC using EpicGames login here on LAN at the Club. It is $15 per player and teams need to sign up together on our start.gg page which you find by searching dmgc 3v3 competitive rocket league tournament or by going to our Twitter of Facebook pages where the link is pinned to the top of our page. We have received a fair amount of interest for Rocket League from separate people so we really hope to see some turnout from the community as we really believe Rocket League can be a gian community here in Central Iowa. The tournament starts at Noon on Saturday, August 20th and due to the limited amount of PCs we have we are capping the team limit to 10 so be sure to sign up soon!
Then, the next Saturday after that, August 27th, is the first installment of the new Smash Bros. regional taking place right here in Central Iowa over in West Des Moines. Run, Don’t Walk features tournaments in Ultimate, Melee, P+, and Rivals of the Aether and currently $800 of pot bonus not to mention all the of the pot contributed by the entrants, which by the way number well over 100. Like we said last week, the Smash Bros. community have been huge supporters of the Club so we were thrilled to help out in our own small way by providing $100 of pot bonus. Then, you guessed it, the Saturday after that, September 3rd, Des Moines Gaming Club is hosting our monthly Smash Bros. tournament Downtown Duels. As usual the venue fee is $7, $5 if you bring a setup and the pot fee per tournament is $8. We have Ultimate and Melee doubles and singles with $100 of pot bonus split amongst Ult and Melee singles. Doubles will start at Noon and singles will start at 1:30pm. You can sign up for this on start.gg by searching for downtown duels.
Whew, that does it for upcoming tournaments here in Des Moines. Plenty of esports action coming our way and we are so excited to be apart the grow of esports in general here in central Iowa. We’ve got a great community and it is exciting to see it grow!
