Good Afternoon gamers and welcome back to another Tuesday Telecast, Des Moines Gaming Club’s weekly update. I hope everyone has had a happy and healthy holidays over the past few days. With the pandemic still looming my wife and I weren’t able to see as many family and friends as we’d like to but it was still great to see both sets of our parents, and the other few family members and friends we did see. We were also thrilled to welcome four new nieces and nephews into the world over this past week so the four days that the Club was closed were full of meeting the little ones and holiday festivities so thank you for understanding and again hope you all were able to enjoy some time off as well.
Looking ahead to this week, we will be closed Friday and Saturday due to the New Years holiday. That means for casual play we’ll be open today, tomorrow, and Thursday 1pm-10pm, closed Friday and Saturday, and then open again on Sunday 11am-5pm. For weekly tournaments we have our FIFA 22 tournament tomorrow night at 7pm, we have our Smash Bros local at 6:30 on Thursday, and then we have our Rocket League weekly at 1pm on Sunday.
Next thing I’ll talk about are some big updates for the FGC community. 1st off we took a break from monthly tournaments here in December because of the holidays, but we’ll resume monthlies in January and so that means Clash in the Capital 2 is happening Saturday, January 29th. We will have Melty Blood: Type Lumina and Tekken 7 1v1 double elimination tournaments starting at 12:30 and then we’ll have Guilty Gear Strive and Street Fighter V 1v1 double elimination tournaments starting at 2pm. The smashgg link to the event page will be in the description of this video but we’ll be sure to post the link and announce this on our social medias in the following days as well. As was the case last time the pot fee for each tournament is $8, the one time venue fee is $7, and then if you bring a set up you get a $2 discount to the venue fee. Super excited to host Clash in the Capital again so be sure to spread the word!
The 2nd big FGC update is a change-up to our locals. Not this week, but next week starting in January FGC weeklies will move to Wednesdays at 7pm and we will have 2 tournaments instead of 1. Since we opened in June, Guilty Gear Strive has been our most popular fighting game and so because of that Guilty Gear will likely always be on the lineup for tournaments each week and so that means we’ll rotate the other game that is played. Those games will likely be Street Fighter, Tekken, Melty Blood, and Soul Caliber. Time for casual sets will always be welcome before, after, and if possible during bracket play. We hope this change finds the right balance for the FGC and that Wednesday will work better for folks’ schedules.
Because of the holidays there aren’t many esports events happening so instead of news to report we’d like to hear what games you have been playing over the holidays in the comments below!
Anyways, that’l do it for today’s telecast. Thanks so much for watching and we’ll see you soon!
