Good Afternoon everyone and welcome back to our weekly update from Des Moines Gaming Club. The schedule here at the Club this week is mostly normal though I will be traveling out of state Saturday through Tuesday. Our good friend Ethan will cover Saturday evening and Sunday so it will just be Tuesday of next week that we will be completely closed. So that means the casual play hours for this week are today-Thursday 1pm-10pm, Friday 1pm-11pm, Saturday will only be open for casual play 4pm-6:30pm and that is because there is a private event starting at 7pm and going till we close. Finally, Sunday will be 11am-5pm just like usual. And even though Tuesday is next week, just remember that we will be closed. I’ll be back Wednesday though to resume normal operations.
The weekly tournament schedule will be normal this week with our FGC local Wednesday at 7pm featuring tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive and Street Fighter V. There will be casuals as well and of course there are usually plenty of other FGC titles to play friendlies on too. Thursday starting at 6:30pm is our Smash Bros. local and this week we have Squad Strike at 6:30 and singles at 7pm in both Ultimate and Melee. Friday night at 7pm is FIFA 22 and Sunday at 1pm is Rocket League.
So since it’s release, I’ve been on the fence about Elden Ring, but I have finally caved today we now have Elden Ring downloaded on our servers here at the Club on Steam. I’ve personally never played a Dark Souls game but having watched a good amount of this game streamed it looks great, there are a lot of customization options, and the reviews have been fantastic so I’m excited to try it out for myself. Let us know in the comments if you have played Elden Ring, are planning on getting it or trying it out here, and if you have played what kind of build have you gone with and what sort of success are you seeing? Of course, I’ve heard and seen how hard this game can be but I’m still not sure if I’m ready for the amount of defeat I’m about to receive.
This past Saturday we hosted our third Downtown Duels, Des Moines Gaming Club’s monthly Smash Bros. tournament. We had a great turnout of over 50 people and played well over 100 matches of Smash Bros. between doubles, Melee, and Ultimate and of course there was plenty of cash prize to be handed out with all of those competitors added $8 to the pot plus the $100 of pot bonus we added. The results were as follows: In Ultimate Singles which paid out top 8: 1st PeZ, 2nd Izzt, 3rd W. Pickles, In Ultimate Doubles which paid out top 3: 1st Vexil/Noir, 2nd PeZ/Gobbles, 3rd Sandy/W. Pickles, and finally we have Melee which also paid out top 3: 1st Boigan, 2nd Cardboard Bear, 3rd GDubs. Thank you again to everyone who came out and a big shoutout to Trejohn who helped a lot in running the tournament. Already can’t wait for the next Downtown Duels which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday April 30th.
That means that this month is all about the FGC with our B-Side tournament happening Sunday March 20th and our main FGC monthly tournament, Clash in the Capital, happening Saturday March 26th. It’s truly an honor and absolute balst to host these bigger tournaments because it’s so awesome to see all of the people in these communitites come out and have a great time with friends.
And that’l do it for this week’s Tuesday Telecast. Thank you so much for watching and following Des Moines Gaming Club. We’ll see ya soon.
