Good Morning and welcome back to another Tuesday Telecast, Des Moines Gaming Club’s weekly update.
We held our 4th Downtown Duels Smash Bros. Monthly on Saturday and as usual, it was great hosting the Ultimate and Melee communities. Melee had I believe the biggest turnout for one of our events and we were able to stream the event too which was awesome, shout out GDubs. Ultimate came out too as usual and with the pot entry fees plus DMGC’s $100 of pot bonus we handed out $472 of cash prizing for all of the tournaments combined. In Ultimate doubles the team of Gold & PeZ won and in Ultimate Singles it was Welfare Pickles who came out on top. In Melee doubles Carboard Bear and Gdubs won while in singles Landon took home first place. Thank you to everyone who came out, it’s always a blast and we can’t wait for next Downtown Duels which is tentatively planned for the last Saturday in June the 25th.
While we’re talking about monthly tournaments, quick reminder that our Monthly mainstage FGC tournament Clash in the Capital is happening not this Saturday, but the next on the 21st featuring tournaments in King of Fighters XV and Street Fighter V at 12:30 followed by Guilty Gear Strive and Tekken 7 at 2pm! We’ll have the Smash gg page for this available soon so keep an eye out on our social media pages.
Next thing I want to mention again is our Summer Collegiate Coaching Camp for League of Legends. We’ll have players and coaches from Grandview Universty and Simpson College esports programs both located within a 20 minute drive from the club providing evaluation and coaching to anyone who is interested in getting better at League of Legends. It will be very beneficial to middle school or high school students who are looking at playing at the collegiate level but like I said if you are somebody who just wants to get better at the game, you are welcome to sign up too! The camp is every Friday from 1-3pm in June and July. The first month is focused on more of an intro to competitive gameplay while July is focused on more intermediate and advanced gameplay. Sign up today by heading to our shop on our website at dsmgamingclub.com!
With all that out of the way, the schedule for the Club this week is normal with casual play being available at the Club during all of our regular hours. 1pm-10pm Tuesday-Thursday, 1pm-11pm Friday & Saturday, and 11am-5pm on Sunday with Monday being our day off. Our weekly tournament schedule is normal as well with Fighting Games Wednesday night at 7pm with official tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive and King of Fighters XV. There will also be friendly matches on a myriad of other titles. Thursday night is Smash Bros. with Squad Strike at 6:30 followed by singles in Ultimate and Melee at 7pm. Squad Strike is going to start sharp at 6:30 so if you want to play in that get there on time! Finally we’ve got FIFA 22 Friday night at 7pm and Rocket League Sunday at 1pm.
That’l do it for this week’s telecast, thanks so much for watching and we’ll see you soon!
