As usual DMGC will add $15 of pot bonus to each tournament. If you simply want to spectate, play friendlies in between tournament sets, or partake in a side tournament you are more than welcome to do that by simply paying the venue fee. You do not have to enter an official tournament if you don’t want to. Venue fee is $7, it is only $5 if you bring a setup or are just there to spectate. Pot fee for each tournament is $8 so be sure to sign up on Smashgg by searching clash in the capital so that you can claim your spot to have a chance at the cash prize. Final note is that as usual on Saturday’s that we host monthly tournaments we will be closed for casual play the whole day to accommodate for said tournament. Can’t wait to see you there!

As for the rest of the week ahead we have a normal schedule. Casual play is available Tuesday-Thursday 1pm-10pm, Friday 1pm-11pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm with Monday’s being our off day. Weekly tournament schedule is normal as well with FGC being wednesday night at 7pm with tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive and Tekken 7. Thursday night is Smash Bros. with doubles at 6:30 and singles at 7pm. Friday is FIFA 22 at 7 and Sunday is Rocket League at 1pm.

Another reminder is that we have our Coaching Clinic with Grandview and Simpson esports programs where they will have players and coaches coming in on Fridays in June and July from 1-3pm to coach players on League of Legends. This is great for middle school or high school students that want to learn competitive play and who possibly want to pursue an esports scholarship in college. HOwever, if you are simply an League of Legends fan and want to get better, you can sign up too. June is focused more on an introduction and the fundamentals of competitive play while July will be focused on more intermediate and advanced play. Sign up by going to our shop at dsmgamingclub.com.

That’l do it for news about the Club this week. Next we’ll briefly go over some esports industry news. The first week of the first CSGO Major tournament is in the books. PGL Antwerp is well underway towards crowning the first major champion team of 2022 while putting up $1,000,000 in prize money. Here are some of the headlines from the first week of qualifying. FaZe clan are through to the playoffs and the 2nd week after beating CPH Flames. Team Vitatliy fought off elimination after besting team BIG, and finally G2, and Outsiders will battle it out today to see who survives and who goes home. As usual you can watch PGL Antwerp on Twitch where it is sure to have well over 100,00 concurrent viewers. Playoff action is sure to be electric this week.

The Call of Duty League had it’s first weekend set of Major 3 qualifying matches recently and Dexerto have released their take on the current power rankings. It’s always interesting to see the ebbs and flows of who are considered to be good teams in the CDL as it can vary quite a bit from Major tournament to Major tournament. For example Major 2 tournament winners Los Angelese Guerillas didn’t win a map this past weekend. Quick reminder that there are 4 Major tournaments with qualifying matches leading up to them this season. With the 3rd tournament already having qualifying underway, we are now past halfway in the season and it is time for teams to really start hitting their stride or risk not being in the top 8 teams and thus missing out on Call of Duty Champs. So per Dexerto’s ranking the bottom 4 teams that really need to show improvement during Major 3 are Paris Legion, London Royal Ravens, Seattle Surge, and Florida Mutineers. The top 3 teams have been pretty steady this season with OpTic Texas currently being ranked first, followed by Atlanta FaZe, and New York Subliners ranking 3rd. Somewhat of a surprise this season is the new team Boston Breach being a regular contender at the 4th spot.

Alright folks, that’l do it for this week’s update from Des Moines Gaming Club. Thanks for watching and we’ll see you next week!
