Good Morning folks and welcome back to another weekly update from Des Moines Gaming Club. We’ve got a fairly straightforward week ahead here with our casual play being available Tuesday-Thursday 1pm-10pm, Friday & Saturday 1pm-11pm, and then we will be closed Sunday & Monday. I suppose I should add the caveat for today that we are closed every Tuesday from 4:30-6:30pm for the next two months due to the Norwalk Youth Esports Club renting out our space.
Moving on our weekly tournament schedule is mostly normal with FGC Wednesday night from 6pm-10pm with official tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive & DNF Duel starting at 7pm. Thursday night is Smash Bros. with Squad Strike and P+ starting at 6:30 followed by singles in Ultimate and Melee at around 7:15. Friday night is FIFA at 7pm and then no Rocket League on Sunday since we will be closed.
That does it for updates from the Club, we’ll end today’s video with a little news from the Esports Industry. The controversial owner and founder of wolrd reknown Esports Organization G2 has stepped down amists more controversy. Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez is usually in the news for some sort of drama but now it has apparently grown to be too much as he has stepped down after a video of him celebrating with Andrew Tate went viral.
The Halo Infinite HCS Orlando tournament was this past weekend and while Halo Infinite has dropped off significantly with it’s overal popularity, this tournament received pretty decent viewing numbers and Halo Infinite still has a dedicated fan base. It was OpTic Gaming who won the event and have now gained the every temporary title of #1 team in the world.
Finally, when the weather starts to turn here in Iowa most people think of Fall, Halloween, pumpkin patches, and football but for us gamers it means new video game season. Two of the news releases so far have been FIFA 23 and the beta for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, both of which always receive a lot of attention right off of release but the verdict on how good they are is still out.
That’l do it for this weeks Tuesday Telecast, thank you so much for watching and we’ll see you next week.
