Tuesday Telecast September 21st, 2021

Good Afternoon gamers! Dan here with Des Moines Gaming Club bring you our weekly update! The big news this week is that Downtown Duels are upon us! Our first monthly Smash Bros tournament is this Saturday at Noon! We are hosting 1v1 double elimination tournaments in both Ultimate and Melee with $100 of prize money split between the two! It’s $12 to enter 1 tournament and $18 if you want to enter both. $6 goes to venue and $6 goes to the prize pool. Again, we’re starting at Noon so feel free to show up before then so that we can get this thing moving. We expect it to go all day till 9, 10, maybe 11pm so because of that the Club will be closed for casual play.

Des Moines Gaming Club is located at 423 SW. 8th St. and there will be some parking right in front of the building, however those spots will likely fill up fast so we will have parking passes available for a big parking lot 2 blocks away that is owned by our landlords. They are charging us $3 per spot so that is what we will charge you. If you’d rather there is street parking available in the neighborhood but that can be hit or miss. If you want to use the parking pass you can pull up to right in front of the club, check to see if there are any spots available and if not I’ll come out and give you a pass. The lot is typically $2 an hour but these passes are good for the whole day so at just $3 it’s not too bad.

We have already heard some feedback that in the future we should possibly consider hosting a doubles tournament and that we should consider having  higher prize pools. We will certainly think about it, we’ll see how this tournament goes, and we’ll talk with the community as always. We are super excited to be hosting our first monthly and we can’t wait to see you all there. Be sure to sign up at the smashgg page or through our website. Otherwise we will accept in person sign ups on Saturday till Noon, FYI I plan on being at the club around 10:30 am. Also, there is a $2 discount for folks who bring setups so if you are interested be sure to sign up on the smashgg to claim that discount. We’ll certainly need some folks to bring setups as we have two full setups here at the club, we have an additional 4 more monitors that just need Nintendo Switches and then we can accommodate probably 14 more full setups consisting of the console and monitor. If you are bringing a setup please try to get here early so we can get everything ready.

Besides that big tournament on Saturday, it will be a normal week here at DMGC. Casual play will be open Tuesday-Thursday from 1pm-10pm, Friday it will be open from 1pm to 11pm, Saturday will be closed for casual play due to the tournament, and then Sunday we are open from 11am-5pm. We will have our FGC tournaments in Tekken, StreetFighter, and Guilty Gear on Wednesday at 7pm, we’ll still have our Smash Bros. weekly at 7pm on Thursday so if you want to practice for saturday that would be the perfect time, and then we will have our Rocket League weekly on Friday at 7pm.

Now let’s get into a little bit of esports industry news. The Valorant Champions Tour Stage 3 Masters Berlin tournament was the headlining esport event this past weekend. European team Gambit took home 1st place and a nice $225,000 beating North American team Envy in the finals. 100Thieves and G2 finished 3rd and 4th.

The Rocket League WePlay Esports invitational took place this past weekend as well and featured tournaments for both the European, Middle East, Africa region as well as the North American region. Karmine Corp won the EMEA region and Envy won the NA region surprisingly taking out NRG who were the favorites twice in the tournament.

Finally, Twelve of the best CS:GO orgs in the world will battle it out starting September 16 to decide who goes straight to the Fall Final, and who goes to the Fall Showdown. Here’s everything you need to know about Blast Premier Fall Groups. G2 and NIP advance to Group B Winner’s Finals. Vitality takes top spot in Group A, Astralis finishes second. Top 2 teams in each group advance to Fall Finals. You can watch all the action on Twitch where you will be sure to find it when it is live because top CSGO events consistently pull over 100,000 viewers.

That’l do it for today’s Tuesday Telecast, as always, thank you for watching and we’ll see you again soon!
