Good Morning Folks and thanks for watching another Tuesday Telecast, Des Moines Gaming Club’s weekly update. Want to start off today’s video by letting everyone know that it’s possible I’ve been exposed to Covid-19 and so the Club will be closed today. I plan on getting tested tomorrow morning and will post any updates on social media about the status of the Club when I have the results. I feel completely fine as of right now but just want to be cautious as I wouldn’t want to spread a sickness to any of our customers if it can be avoided. I’m vaccinated and boosted and don’t get sick anyways so it’s possible I have it but don’t have any symptoms. It’s also possible I don’t have it at all so I’ll just have to wait and see what the results of the test show. So again we’re closed today and hope to be open like normal tomorrow but stay tuned to our social media channels for any updates.
Assuming we move forward with our typical schedule this week our open business hours are Wednesday and Thursday 1pm-10pm, Friday and Saturday 1pm-11pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm. Our weekly tournament schedule is Fighting game tournaments in Guilty Gear Strive and Tekken 7 Wednesday at 7pm, Smash Bros. Thursday night with doubles at 6:30 and singles at 7pm. FIFA 22 is Friday night at 7pm and Rocket League is 1pm on Sunday.
That does it for updates from the Club so we’ll move on to some esports industry news. Apex Legends Season 12 is dropping right now as I speak with a new legend, new battle pass, and other big changes. The new legend is Mad Maggie who appears to have some strong abilities, specifically her tactical which allows her to break through Gibraltar’s shield which could make competitive play very interesting since Gibraltar is almost a must pick when it comes to grinding ranked or playing competitively. Speaking of pro play, the ALGS is adding Storm Point to the competitive rotation alongside World’s Edge. The ALGS started out with two maps back in the day with World’s Edge and Kings Canyon but for the past year and a half it has just been World’s Edge in the rotation. As a fan of the ALGS, I welcome Storm Point being added just because it will be fun to see pro teams adjust to the new map.
The Call of Duty League has officially gotten underway with it’s first round of matches taking place this past weekend and let me just say, the results have been surprising with many teams not being where we thought they would be in the standings after the first week. OpTic Dallas are 0-2 after losing 2 round 5 game 11 SND’s and even though they are closed matches they just seem a little shaky. Surprise starts for new rosters of the London Royal Ravens and Seattle Surge see them at the top of the standings after both started out undefeated this past weekend. The CDL schedule see’s teams play matches for three straight weeks that seeds them into a tournament at the end of the month so it will be fun to watch how the CDL progresses each and every weekend.
The League of Legends Champioonship series is about to get fully underway here with the beginning of the Spring Split. The off season say plenty of roster changes for teams all across the North American league and Dexerto has released it’s power rankings ahead of the new season. Defending champions 100Thieves come in at 2nd while Team Liquid come it at number 1 with many feeling it will be their year in the LCS. TSM has been ranked 4th and Cloud 9 who made Worlds are ranked 5th. The LCS has traditionally only had a couple of teams that could possibly complete on the world stage with the likes of the Korean and Chinese teams but the LCS continues to grow stronger and that is clear when you have Cloud 9, traditionally one of the best teams in NA ranked 5th ahead of the Spring Split.
